john lescure - founder
John was born in Laos, a small country near Thailand. When he was a child, his family moved to France where he grew up in a suburb outside of Paris. John arrived in the United States when he was 12 years old, completed high school in Corpus Christi, TX, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1997 from Baylor University in Waco, TX. He moved to Phoenix, AZ, in 2001 and currently works as an avionics engineer for Honeywell Aerospace.
John trained in Taekwon-Do, a martial art that originated from Korea. He became involved with the International Taekwon-Do Federation, and eventually earned his black belt while in college. With Taekwon-Do being mostly a kicking art, John learned punching and self-defense techniques from other disciplines to become more versatile. Because Baylor provided a positive environment for his Christian faith, John remained in Waco to grow further spiritually, while at the same time acting as the Taekwon-Do Club Senior Instructor for 4 years before moving to Phoenix. When he arrived in AZ, John attended group fitness classes to remain active. Since he enjoyed the kickboxing classes, he earned his AFAA kickboxing certification and eventually became a group fitness instructor. He has been teaching cardio kickboxing since 2003.
John hopes the techniques in class will help you reach your fitness goals, but at the same time, the concepts you learn will also give you more confidence in your daily activities, because the benefits should extend farther than just within the walls of a gym.
